Ubilium powers wireless MESH solution at Montreal
2005 FINA Championships

Montreal, Quebec, August 1 2005. Today Ubilium announced the successful project completion of supplying a mesh Wi-Fi deployment for the Montreal 2005 Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA) championships in conjunction with partners Bell Canda and Nortel Networks. Ubilium's broadband services management technology helped provide WI-Fi services to over 800 users from the media covering this international gathering dedicated to aquatic sports. Journalists, photographers and event coordinators alike benefited from Wi-Fi Internet access to help share the results of this special event with the world in real time.

The Wi-Fi coverage spanned the entire event facility covering all the various venues of the event including the swimming, diving, water polo, and synchronized swimming venues. This coverage allowed the media to have a wireless broadband connection to the Internet directly from each event and instantly distribute coverage of the results live. High-speed wired access was also conveniently furnished to both the press center and television compound.

Ubilium collaborated with both Bell Canada and Nortel Networks to provide this unique wireless MESH network solution for this major athletic event. Nortel Networks provided all the Wi-Fi MESH technology and Bell Canada was responsible for the installation and management of the solution. Ubilium rounded out the offering by supplying the broadband access gateway, user authentication, pre-paid access code provisioning, customized end-user scenario, branded portal, and help desk support to all users. All of the Wi-Fi MESH back-end services were hosted at Ubilium's centralized data centre.
